Fuel scarcity caused by the sins of Jonathan's administration- says FG

The Federal Government, on Monday, blamed the current petrol scarcity on the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan which it accused of not making adequate provision for subsidy.
Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, made the revelation to State House correspondents after an emergency meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) .He said:
"What I will be telling Nigerians is that what we met on ground is such that we are paying for the sins of the last administration. I am being very serious.

Tragedy: Police Man Kills 2 Nursing Mothers At Burial

The people of Fugar in Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State were thrown into turmoil on Saturday, June 27, 2015, when a trigger happy police officer, attached to a traditional ruler, shot dead two women during the burial of a former headmaster, Hon. James Oshioriamhe Etu. Other mourners at the occasion  took to their heels following the  gunshots which hit Sandra Emaku and Aishitu Aliyu, both of them nursing mothers.

Sunday Vanguard learnt that trouble started when the children of the deceased were dancing as part of the funeral. One of the traditional rulers (names withheld) who graced the occasion stood up to leave. As if  drunk, one of the police officers attached to the monarch started shooting sporadically with one hand. The two women fell to the bullets of the officer.

Popular human rights activist, Femi Falana (SAN), has called on former minister of finance, Madam Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, to apologise for lying to Nigerians over the illegal withdrawal of the sum of $2bn from the Excess Crude Account (ECA) without proper authorization.

According to Falana, having admitted that the withdrawal of the sum of $2 billion by her was authorised by just President Goodluck Jonathan and not by the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) as she had previously claimed, she ought to apologise to Nigerians.

Suspected Drug Baron arrested in Lagos....

A suspected drug baron who specialised in sponsoring drug couriers to China, Malaysia, Turkey, Italy and other foreign countries has been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Addressing journalists at office of the agency at Ikoyi, Lagos, the NDLEA Chairman, Ahmadu Giade, said the 37-year-old suspect, Sylvester Chukwunwendu, was also a producer of methamphetamine in Anambra State. Giade said that Chukwunwendu was arrested at Ozubulu in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State based on intelligence report received by the agency on April 23, 2014.
